"People are just fucking lawless right now."--Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot
Listen to this! Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot on a conference call with Chicago's 50 aldermen. All of them--all Democrats--are horrified by the violence, and they're pleading with Lightfoot for help.
During the call, Lightfoot says police are in armed conflict with rioters, and she says much of the violence has been coordinated. And at one point Lightfoot says, "People are just fucking lawless right now."
It's a grim conversation, but at the same time hopeful. All the aldermen are pissed at the rioters and want the violence to end. And they're all pleading for police help.
